In the following sections, we will see signs about Day, Night, Sunset and Sunrise that we may never thought about them before, and they are mentioned in Almighty God’s book, the Holy Quran.
A- Sunsets and Sunrises’ Count
In ALLAH’s book, there are 3 types of sunset and sunrise that were mentioned, as following:
1- The Single Sunset (West) and Single Sunrise (East):
He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. (26: 28)
2- The Two Sunsets and Two Sunrises.
Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! (55: 17)
These verses are talking about 2 Wests and 2 Easts, and in other case there is 1 West and 1 East. All these are related to North and South Poles (Easts and Wests), as they are changing monthly, as following:
1- In January, North Pole has continuous Sunset, and South Pole has continuous Sunrise, i.e. one West in North Pole and one East in South Pole.
2- February – NP: Sunset, SP: Sunrise; (1 x West + 1 x East).
3- March – NP: Sunset & Sunrise, SP: Sunset &Sunrise, i.e. 2 x Wests and 2 x Easts, where East + West in each Pole.
4- April – NP: Sunrise, SP: Sunset; (1 x East + 1 x West).
5- May – NP: Sunrise, SP: Sunset; (1 x East + 1 x West).
6- June – NP: Sunrise, SP: Sunset; (1 x East + 1 x West).
7- July – NP: Sunrise, SP: Sunset; (1 x East + 1 x West).
8- August – NP: Sunrise, SP: Sunset; (1 x East + 1 x West).
9- September – NP: Sunrise & Sunset, SP: Sunrise & Sunset, (2 x Wests + 2 x Easts).
10- October – NP: Sunset, SP: Sunrise; (1 x West + 1 x East).
11- November – NP: Sunset, SP: Sunrise; (1 x West + 1 x East).
12- December – NP: Sunset, SP: Sunrise; (1 x West + 1 x East).
Top half of the next figure shows: 1 sunrise and 1 sunset in January and this what the first verse talked about, and what is between them is the whole Earth.
The second half of the figure shows the moving 2 sunrises and 2 sunsets in both poles, and this what is meant in the second verse.
The proof that 2 Easts or 2 Wests are related to poles is mentioned in the following verse, where an infidel on the Day of Judgment wishes that there is distance, as farthest as the distance between 2 Easts, between him and his devil companion (who was whispering wrongly to him during all his life):
Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarîn (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! (43:38)
So, if we measure the distance between the farthest 2 points on Earth Land we find the following:
- The farthest point in Siberia to farthest point in South America is 7,495 miles.
- South Africa to Siberia (or Alaska) is 7,594 miles
- Alaska to Australia is 6,485 miles
Where the distance between the 2 poles is the farthest and equal to 7,888 miles, therefore the two Easts meant by the above verses are related to poles.
3- Too many Sunsets and many Sunrises:
Allah says the following:
But nay! I swear by the Lord of the rising-places (Easts) and the setting-places (Wests) that We verily are Able (70:40)
We all notice the different east and west degree of Sun every day (or month), and this what is meant by the above verse.
As example: in the below graph it shows Sun path during the day between June till December in Florida [1]:
B- Day & Night signs:
1- Night covering Daylight
It’s written in the following verse, that Night covers the Daylight:
Verily your Lord is Allah who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne, making the night cover the day, seeking it swiftly, and created the sun and the moon and the stars subjected to service by His command. Lo! His is the creation and the command. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (7:54)
Which is shown in the next image, and this is a very clear miracle and sign in the Holy Quran, as it’s impossible to anyone, especially 1500 years ago, to just even imagine that above daylight there is a cover of night that is full of darkness.
2- Daylight Thickness
As shown in the below figure that daylight thickness, is too thin comparing with Night darkness that covers it, and this is also mentioned in Quran, likening the daylight as skin thickness comparing with Night.
A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. (36:37)
This verse explains that day light is only a narrow strip from night, and if it’s removed then night darkness will cover everything.
3- Night and Day Circling
The following verse is another proof of Earth spherical form (as mentioned in part 4 – Earth Geology) where the verse is talking how daylight and night are circling over each others:
He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. He maketh night to succeed (youkawer) day, and He maketh day to succeed (youkawer) night, and He constraineth the sun and the moon to give service, each running on for an appointed term. Is not He the Mighty, the Forgiver? (39:5)
The verb used in this verse is (Youkawer) which used when someone ties the turban over his head, as explained below from Arabic Dictionary and shown in number (2) action on the next figure:
Using this verb in this verse, explains clearly that day and night are rolling on earth surface as turban over someone head, which gives indication that Earth shape is like a sphere.
The following figure shows how day is circling over Earth surface followed by night too:
4- Daylight Showing the Sun
[Science]
Quoted from Wikipedia: Atmosphere of Earth – Optical properties
Scattering:
When light passes through our atmosphere, photons interact with it through scattering. If the light does not interact with the atmosphere, it is called direct radiation and is what you see if you were to look directly at the Sun. Indirect radiation is light that has been scattered in the atmosphere. For example, on an overcast day when you cannot see your shadow there is no direct radiation reaching you, it has all been scattered. As another example, due to a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering, shorter (blue) wavelengths scatter more easily than longer (red) wavelengths. This is why the sky looks blue, you are seeing scattered blue light. This is also why sunsets are red. Because the Sun is close to the horizon, the Sun's rays pass through more atmosphere than normal to reach your eye. Much of the blue light has been scattered out, leaving the red light in a sunset. [2]
[Quran]
It’s mentioned in the holy Quran, that daylight is showing up the Sun and it’s not the inverse way as anyone may think (Sun showing the daylight):
By the sun and its brightness; (1) By the moon as it follows it (the sun); (2) By the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; (3) By the night as it conceals it; (4) (91:1-4)
The explanation of the word “Jallaha”, means to show it and it’s the inverse of hiding too:
This proves that if Quran was of a Human source and NOT divine, then it was impossible to write such verse, as all people believe that Sun is causing the daylight on Earth which technically true, but actually the Daylight (due to atmosphere layers) clears the Sun and shows its full brightness over us, otherwise it will be a small star in a dark night (same mentioned in part 3 in Earth Creation, when the Sun was ready but Atmosphere was incomplete yet).
C- Day & Night Attributes:
1- Inflowing:
The following verse describes how daylight is inflowing inside the night, and the night inside daylight:
That is because Allâh merges the night into the day, and He merges the day into the night. And verily, Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Seer. (22:61)
That is to be because Allah plungeth the night into the day and plungeth the day into the night, and because He is Hearing, Beholding. (22:61)
This inflowing can’t ever be seen except from above Earth or by drawing Night and Day on flat map for Earth, as shown in the next figure:
2- Flipping:
The following verse describes how Allah flips the Day and Night, the word used is “Yaqleb” which literally means “flip”:
Allah causeth the revolution (Yaqleb, flipping) of the day and the night. Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for those who see. (24:44)
The following figure shows the day and night during the months of January till December, and how in March-April and September-October the day and night are flipped on the poles, and this what is meant by the above miraculous verse:
3- Chasing:
The same verse mentioned above about Night covering the day, it also mentions that night is chasing (seeking) daylight swiftly
And this can be shown on animated figure for an Earth flat map where it shows how the daylight is running and night is following it, the below figure shows snap shots:
4- Frequency & Succession:
The following verses explain how day and night are changing in succession, the word used is “Ekhtelaf” which means also “frequency” of day and night too, and the following verse use also another word which is “succession” of day and night
Lo! In the creation of the heavens and the earth and (in) the difference (Ektelaf, frequency) of night and day are tokens (of His Sovereignty) for men of understanding, (3:190)
And He it is Who hath appointed night and day in succession, for him who desireth to remember, or desireth thankfulness. (25:66)
5- The Last Hour arrival at night and day
The following verse confirms the day and night exist simultaneously on Earth, and what is daylight on a place is a night on the other place on Earth:
Say: "Tell me, - if His torment should come to you by night or by day, - which portion thereof would the Mujrimûn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals) hasten on ?" (50) Is it then, that when it has actually befallen, you will believe in it? What! Now (you believe)? And you used (aforetime) to hasten it on!" (51) [Younes]
Knowing that mentioned that the “Last Hour” will come only at day as mentioned in Hadith (the first to hear the horn will be 2 sheep boys in the desert), will not be a complete information, since what is a daylight in certain place on Earth will be definitely night on the other side, because of that, the above verse mentioned both, as if saying that Last hour will come on daylight for some people and on Night for others.
6- Daylight & Night First Appearance
Let’s read the following verses and see how they are explained:
And the close of night (Assass), (81:17)
And the night when it withdraweth (Adbar) (74:33)
These verses describe the night when it withdraw, as he turns his back (using the word Adbar) and using the word (Assass), which means being close from Earth:
The following verse describes the night as Covering:
And We have made the night as a covering (78: 10)
The following verses describe the night when it extends its length “Saja”, and when the dawn uncovers its face, using the word “Asfar”:
And by the night when it is stillest, (93:2)
And by the dawn when it brightens, (34)
To explain this attributes we must look to Earth and Sun from Vertical projection to see how night and daylight appear. The following figure shows how the night is covering the Earth including the daylight:
If we look at the day and night from a fixed point on Earth, it will appear as in the following figure:
This figures shows the following attributes mentioned in the above verses:
- Night comes from beneath and close to Earth surface.
- Night turns its back when it departs.
- Dawn appears from above first when daylight starts.
- The night darkness extends its length from above layers when daylight departs.
The actual photos for sunset and Dawn are shown in the below photos:
Finally,
And of them there are some who listen to you; but We have set veils on their hearts, so they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; and even if they see every one of the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) they will not believe therein; to the point that when they come to you to argue with you, the disbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the men of old." (25)
And they prevent others from him (from following Prophet Muhammad SAW) and they themselves keep away from him, and (by doing so) they destroy not but their ownselves, yet they perceive (it) not. (26)
If you could but see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.) of our Lord, and we would be of the believers!" (27)
Nay, it has become manifest to them what they had been concealing before. But if they were returned (to the world), they would certainly revert to that which they were forbidden. And indeed they are liars. (28)
And they said: "There is no (other life) but our (present) life of this world, and never shall we be resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection)." (29)
If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe." (30 [Anaam]
Thanks to ALLAH, Lord of the worlds
